CHILEAN LNG PROJECT

SITE: CHILE

The Chilean LNG Project consists of a new grass-roots LNG receiving terminal located at Quintero Bay, approximately 160 km northwest of Santiago, Chile. LNG carrier ships unload at a new jetty built at Quintero, into two storage tanks. Process facilities are installed to enable the LNG to be pumped from the storage tanks, vaporised and exported into the existing transmission system via a new pipeline.
The terminal is expected to meet 40% of Chilean gas demand, with an overall annual supply capacity of 2.5 million tonnes of LNG.
